Follow your senses to the festival hub in Central Parkand enjoy magic, vaudeville, swing dance, circus, jazz, fashion, cabaret, projections and illuminations after dark. The Darling Buds of May will be playing at 3.30pm and Adam and the Velvet Playboys will be playing at 5.30pm on the 24th March. There will also be performances by Swing It!

Learn the Big Apple - 4 week series

Just in time for Hullabaloo! Swing Zing has a tradition of teaching the Big Apple Contest routine during the lead up to Hullabaloo, as it’s one of the most fun and exciting routines to dance! This is a must-know routine for all die-hard Lindy Hoppers! It’s not only a fun one to dance, it also teaches you a heap of jazz steps in cool combinations. The routine has a lot of detail and will be taught in 4 sections over the 4 weeks. Naturally it is wisest to take all four sessions in order to really learn the sequences, however you are more than welcome to drop in on any night.

Just in time for Hullabaloo, one of Perth’s longstanding leading ladies of jazz is here to help you Tranky Doo your way to glory (or at least join in with everyone else). The Tranky Doo is a solo jazz line dance that came out of the Savoy Ballroom in the 1940s. Featured in the Spirit Moves documentary, it is now danced by Lindy Hoppers around the world. Lexi Rollins has been Lindy Hopping since 2005 and winning Charleston battles since 2007. She has a love for movement, rhythm, and the kind of dancing that...’s easy on the eyes – let her share that love!

If you’ve tranky’d before but it’s a little rusty, this is the class for you. We’ll run over that baby real fast and make sure everything is tight and shiny. Alternatively, you are an ace at all the jazz steps, pick up routines quick smart, and want to nail this routine in an hour.

If you’re all like, “what’s a Tranky Doo?” or just want to join in when you see people doing a snazzy routine, this is the class for you. We will take it slow and spell out each of the individual jazz steps until you’ve got it down.
